The Sarasota Film Society has partnered with the Film Studies Program at State College of Florida to co-present a weekly movie series, "Films of the 40s." Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. is a full 4-hour program that replicates the movie-going experience in America of the 1940s complete with main feature, newsreel, cartoon, coming attraction, short subject and second feature. Students enrolled in the classs at SCF receive credit for attending as part of a regular academic class with other assignments and meetings. However, members of the general public can attend by registering for the weekly showings and an $8 fee per admission. Registration is at the Lakewood Ranch Theater on the day of the showing.
