Sarasota Film Society Patrons Come Together to Help Every Single Forgotten Angel This Christmas

Friday, December 7th, 2012

Each year, Lakewood Ranch Cinemas hosts an “Angel Tree” for the Salvation Army. Ornaments containing the Christmas gift wishes of underprivileged children hang upon its branches. A few weeks ago, we asked our famous Film Buffs to help those children get the same wonderful Christmas morning as the more fortunate among us, and the Film Buffs delivered!  Today we are please to announce that all 85 wishes were fulfilled! From us here at Sarasota Film Society, The Salivation Army, and the families whom you helped through this holiday season, thank you.

If you’d like to help even more, you can join our “Cans Film Festival” on Saturday, December 22nd as we play a special, family friendly Christmas classic on the big screen. Admission is one can of food for the needy. We’ll let you know the film selection soon, so stay tuned for more information!

Finally, just in time for the holidays, we’re pleased to announce our Sarasota Film Society gift cards are in stock and ready for stockings! Our gift cards work for both Burns Court and Lakewood Ranch Cinemas, and can be used toward tickets, snacks, or even membership! Just visit the Burns Court or Lakewood Ranch box office or give us a call at 955-FILM to get yours today!

Help Forgotten Angels at Lakewood Ranch

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

We’d like to invite all of our film buffs to help us with this year’s Angel Tree at Lakewood Ranch Cinemas. Each year during the holidays, we erect this tree in partnership with the Salvation Army in order to help under-privileged children wake up to a gift on Christmas morning. Helping is simple. Visit the theater lobby between now and December 3rd, and choose one of the 60 ornaments hung on the tree to find the forgotten angel you’d like to help. Each ornament will list the gender, age, and clothing size of a child and offers a few suggestions for gifts that child would like. Then, simply return the ornament attached to a bag with the gift to the Salvation Army collection box right there in the theater. We’re hoping to help sixty of these forgotten angels this year, and know we can count on Sarasota’s famous film buffs to get it done.
